This oil is rich in peppertone, leading to many uses in aromatherapy.
It is also used in commercial applications for deodorants, disinfectants,
mouthwash, gargles and in veterinary practices. A traditional use for
the leaves was in the relief of fever by fumigation. It was used in
World War 1 as medicine for a meningitis outbreak and following that
war, for the 1919 influenza epidemic.
